President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Dennis Francis, said that India’s efforts for ‘Digital Public Infrastructure’ (DPI) are a great example of social change and progress. Praising India, he said that if DPI is used well then it is helpful in providing level playing field. Francis, President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, said that just as physical infrastructure is essential for economic development, digital public infrastructure has emerged as a fundamental driver of social change and progress. Top leaders and diplomats of the United Nations also attended the conference, while India was highly praised.

UNGA President Dennis Francis said that during his visit to India in January this year, he had the privilege to see how the rapid expansion of DPI in India has broadened access. This brought financial freedom and prosperity to millions of people who were previously either marginalized or excluded from the economic system. He said that in just 7 years, India’s DPI model has achieved more than 80% financial inclusion for its citizens and participation in digital transactions.
